The Official Voice of UK Cypriot Tour Operators & Travel Agents

AGTA (UK) - Association of Greek Cypriot Travel Agents - was founded in May 1989.  2009 will mark its 20th year anniversary! AGTA’ reputation has since grown considerably and is to date, generally regarded as the official voice for UK Cypriot specialist tour operators / travel agents and is regularly consulted for its views by the Cyprus tourism authorities / bodies.

The Association's aims are:

  • To support its members' promotional drive for Cyprus Tourism
  • To promote travel and tourism to the Island in general
  • To consult and cooperate with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and other tourism bodies in Cyprus and the UK for the development of the Island's tourism in a more effective and sustainable way

AGTA Membership

AGTA has 3 membership categories: Bonafide Members [Greek Cypriot owned Tour Operators & Travel Agents, who are the members with voting rights], Affiliate [UK & Cyprus hoteliers or ancillary services providers] and Sponsors [tourism bodies, airlines, airports or other]. Full details of all members can be found in the AGTA annual directory and website.

The current membership comprises of: 11 Tour Operators, 7 Travel Agents, 28 Cyprus Affiliate members, 11 UK affiliate members and 3 Sponsors.  Total membership (all categories): 60

AGTA (UK) Council

The affairs of the Association are managed by a nine man council elected every 2 years.  The council has three officers [Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Treasurer] and six members.  The present members of the council are as detailed here:  Noel Josephides (Sunvil Holidays), Chairman, Harry Kyrillou (Planet Holidays), Vice Chairman, Angelos Agathangelou (Anemone Travel), Treasurer, Eamonn Ferrin (Libra Holidays), Harry Hajipapas (Cyplon Holidays), Manolis Mavroulakis (Greece & Cyprus Travel).  [Note: Andreas Vasiliou (Amathus Holidays), Akis Kyprianou (Libra Holidays), Harry Kyrillou (Planet Holidays) and Yiannis Triteos (Magnum Travel) have previously served as Chairmen of AGTA (UK)].

AGTA (UK) Secretariat

All the administrative and promotional work is carried out by the AGTA (UK) Secretariat.  The Secretariat operates with a Permanent Secretary known as the Executive, who manages all the activities undertaken by the Association with guidance from council.  The Executive is Mr. Ioannis {Yannis} Efthymiou.  The Executive has been employed by AGTA (UK) since January 1996; he operates the AGTA (UK) Secretariat from his own home.

Constitution

AGTA (UK) Operates as per the rules of an established constitution.

Website

Our website address is: www.agta.co.uk

The website was established several years ago by MintTwist Ltd. and was based on the Association’s Directory of membership. The site was re-vamped last year by MintTwist in consultation with the AGTA Secretariat and CTO London.

Recently, MintTwist and an associate strategist [SEO specialist], Mel Croucher, have been commissioned to give the site a more artistic appeal and improve its Search Engines Optimisation potential. The aim for the new work is to make the site a more Cyprus Holidays focused web based organisation and, gradually, increase visitors to it organically, considerably, which consequently will generate new bookings to Cyprus through members.
